Arthur Charles Scavezze Jr., age 84, long time resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 in Ponca City.

A Rosary followed by a funeral ceremony to celebrate Art’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 30, 2019 in the Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Father Zak Boazman officiating. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Arthur was born on April 1, 1935 to Arthur Charles Scavezze Sr. and Cora Christina Scavezze in Pittsburg, KS. He was raised in Pitts-burg, KS and graduated from high school there in 1953. After high school, Art attended Pittsburg State University where he graduated in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree in education. Upon his graduation, Art joined the Army Reserves. Kansas City, KS became his home, then he moved to Prairie Village before settling in the Ponca City Area.Throughout his time in Ponca City, Art was a devoted parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Art enjoyed fishing and watching college basketball and football. The Kansas University Jayhawks basketball team received most of his support. As well he adored his little furry friends that were always at his side. Art will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his sons Tony Scavezze and Jeffrey Scavezze both of Ponca City, brothers, Bill Scavezze and wife Linda of South Jordan, Utah, John Scavezze and wife Phyllis of Tahlequah, OK, sister Elizabeth (Betty) Moore and husband Michael of Lawrence, KS, grandchildren: Devin Walker, Eryn Gross, Cody Scavezze great grandchildren: Avianna Christine Gross, Harlee Kaylynn Scavezze, close friend Carol Murphy as well as a host of other brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Lena Gross.

Casketbearers will be Jeff Scavezze, John Scavezze, Mike Brunette, Travis Ewing, and Brady Warrior. Honorary casketbearers will be Tony Scavezze and Jim Van Becelaere.
