Traffic Stop - At 1:59 am on Jan. 24, a traffic stop occurred at Lake Road and Red Oak. Officer #18 took Wayne Herman Carlisle, 6/66, for knowingly receiving any property that was stolen, embezzled, obtained by false pretense or robbery, or conceals, withholds such property; knowingly or intentionally possesses a controlled dangerous substance; uses or possesses drug paraphernalia to plant, propagate, cultivate, grow etc. to introduce into the human body a controlled dangerous substance except the licensed person in the professions of podiatry, dentistry, medicine, etc.; and lend, sell, permit the use of, alter, procure, etc. a certificate of title or license plate issued or operating a vehicle without a license or in violation of rated license capacity, etc.

United Way 2022-2023 Campaign results announced at 84th Annual Meeting

Community problems rarely originate from a single cause. Solving problems requires that everyone work together – schools, nonprofit organizations, foundations, city and state government, and businesses. This is the focus of United Way’s work – bringing people together to create a vision for a healthy community and then to set goals, align programs, activities, strategies and partners, and then measure success by tracking and sharing data, stated Molly Kyler United Way president. Kyler spoke before 40 guests at the 84th United Way of North Central Oklahoma’s annual meeting.

Ponca City Father Daughter Dance to be held Saturday, Feb 4

The 18th Annual Ponca City Father Daughter Dance will be held on Saturday, February 4 at the Marland Mansion. This event is open to all girls ages 13 and under and their fathers and/or father-figures. Due to the overwhelming attendance at this event, it will once again be split into three sessions. Session 1 is from 3:15 to 4:45 pm, suggested ages Kindergarten & below; Session 2 is from 5:30 pm to 7 pm, suggested ages are 1st thru 2nd grade; and Session 3 is from 8 pm to 9:30 pm, 3rd –7th grade. All ages are just suggestions. You may choose from any session. Tickets are $20 each.

Bridget Graham and Michael Ortiz are the Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) January Students of the Month. Graham is a junior from Woodland High School enrolled in the Health Career Certification 1 program. Her instructor chose her as a student of the month due to her hard work and multitasking skills. She feels Graham has a great sense of autonomy that a future healthcare professional will need. Michael Ortiz is with the Firefighter/EMT program and is an adult student from Ponca City. His instructor praises him as a self-starter who works hard to accomplish his goals.

After past farm bill stumbles, GOP this year faces the challenge of inexperience

WASHINGTON — In the four years since Congress enacted the current farm bill, more than 40 percent of the seats in the House have turned over. Nearly 200 of the 435 members may know little about the multiyear, far-ranging and sometimes contentious legislation, posing a challenge to House Agriculture Chairman Glenn Thompson as he writes a 2023 farm bill.
