The Ponca City Chamber of Commerce’s Community Development Committee held their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, March 16 at 10 am. Tiffany Hermann called the meeting to order.
Registration for the Ponca City Aviation Foundation’s Northern Oklahoma Flight Academy is currently open and will close on Friday, March 31. The summer flight camps have been held for the past 15 years at the Ponca City Regional Airport, and was typically a one week camp for grades 6-12.
With spring break upon the school districts, students and their parents have flocked to the RecPlex to expend some of their unending energy. The Ponca City RecPlex is a 24 million dollar 79,000 square foot facility that works year round to offer opportunities to keep active for people of all ages.

March 12, 2023 Assault - At 3:14 am, a 911 caller advised of a subject that was assaulting them in the 900 block of W. Central. The reporting party advised the subject did not have a weapon, but was throwing things at them. The subjects involved were saying nothing was going on and that they didn’t need help.
NOC EXTENDS NURSING APPLICATION DEADLINE TO MARCH 31 The Northern Oklahoma College Nursing Program is currently applications for Fall 2023. The deadline for applications has been extended to March 31.
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate has unanimously approved a bill to create the Oklahoma Civil Rights Trail. Senate Bill 509 by Sen. Kevin Matthews, D-Tulsa, and Sen. Bill Coleman, R-Ponca City, will connect all-Black towns and locations significant the civil rights movement, including many Native American sites of historical significance. The trail will also help stimulate tourism, foster entrepreneurship, and promote economic development within these communities.
Change Is Nothing New to Social Security I continually remind my readers that they shouldn’t worry too much when they read or hear reports of Social Security’s imminent collapse. Once Congress works up the nerve to deal with the issue (and once the American people accept the fact that the program needs reform), they will get around to passing amendments to the Social Security laws that will keep the program solvent for generations to come.
