Body
The Heather Cannon Honda Wildcat of the Week #23 and final recipient for the 2022-2023 school year was presented to Po-Hi senior Josh Henry. “Josh is an allaround great young man and he lives his life by the principles of the Wildcat Way. He works very hard in all his classes and excels because of his dedication to put his best effort into all that he does,” said PCPS Superintendent Shelley Arrott. “Josh attends Po-Hi and Pioneer Technology Center. At Po-Hi he excels in government, English IV, and Algebra II and at PTC he participates in the Fleet and Facilities Maintenance Program. He was also recently inducted into the prestigious National Honor Society for his scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Josh also has participated in the area and state Special Olympics Games with our school teams the past two years. What most people do not know is that he has been the school mascot, Willie Wildcat, for the last four years. This role is one that Josh takes great pride in, which demonstrates his loyalty to his school. When he is in the Willie Wildcat costume, Josh does NOT break character. He is dedicated to his duties to present himself as our school mascot when in character, and not as the student Josh Henry.”

Capitol Considerations

Body
This week, the Legislature and governor came to an agreement on the largest education package in state history that will provide an additional $625 million in new funding to the system. $500 million of this will go directly into the funding formula to pay for tiered teacher raises, ranging from $3,000 to $6,000 based on their years of service and also provide six weeks of paid maternity leave for educators. This raise will bring the average Oklahoma teacher salary to approximately $60,300. This is a great accomplishment and should help tremendously in retaining and recruiting teachers to our classrooms. The plan will also invest another $125 million into the Redbud Fund, which greatly benefits rural school districts that don’t receive as much ad valorem money as some other schools.

Burbank First Baptist Church News

Body
Spring has arrived. The Lord blessed us with an abundance of rain recently. The ponds of Osage County are filling up. Flowers are blooming. Award ceremonies and graduations are being held. Summer will arrive soon. We will be holding our Vacation Bible school in the very near future. We have not set a date, but it will probably be toward the end of July. We must schedule around all the summer activities such as powwows, rodeos, and summer camps. We are always blessed with good attendance and parental involvement. The church should always be supportive of all children and youth activities. We have been blessed with workers who want to help our youth grow in their personal relationship with the Lord. The church family is also blessed while doing some much needed remodeling in our worship area. A new tile ceiling is being installed this week. New lighting is also being installed. New ceiling fans are replacing three that have served the church well for many years. With these improvements, we will be able to finish our installation of the remote viewing of worship service in our fellowship hall. Things are looking up at Burbank, First Baptist Church. Should you be searching for a church home, you will find no better place to worship than in Burbank. We may not have a grocery store, gas station or convenience store but we have a Christian spirit to is worth checking out. Have a wonderfully blessed future in service to an awesome God.
