Officer involved shooting in Blackwell on Mon., May 8
Body
On Mon., May 8 at approximately 9:45 pm, the Blackwell Police Department received two calls in reference to a white male flagging down cars on Doolin Ave. and 29th St. The Blackwell PD responded to the call and arrived on scene where they encountered a male now identified as Michael Anthony Cook. When Officer Watters attempted to make contact with cook, cook raised his hand and began to shoot at him. Officer Watters fired one shot, which struck cook in his right foot. Cook then ran across the south parking lot of the Blackwell Animal Hospital to the property of the Southern Plains Livestock Auction and entered the trailer house. Cook refused to come out of the property when ordered to do so.
