PONCA CITY, OK -- For over 38 years, APEX Accelerators, (formerly Procurement Technical Assistance Centers), like the one at Pioneer Technology Center (PTC), have helped expand the number of small businesses that successfully compete for and win federal, state, and local government contracts. This program has been rebranded recently, but its mission is the same. Oklahoma PTAC is now Oklahoma APEX Accelerator, a name that the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education chose in coordination with a recent change in the federal grant program under the U.S. Department of Defense. Pioneer Tech’s own Dawn Brakey is excited about the change.

The Supreme Court gave a mostly skeptical hearing Tuesday to payday lenders who are challenging the constitutionality of the Obama-era consumer protection agency. Most of the justices suggested they were not ready to strike down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau simply because it is funded with fees from the Federal Reserve rather than an annual appropriation.

Last year, local artist Theresa Sacket and her husband Jeremy set out to paint murals on the underpass on Highland. Four murals featured a pop art style that pays respects to Ponca City’s culture including the likes of Standing Bear, the Pioneer Woman statue, fox art and other Oklahoma iconography.
