I want to tell you about a frugality wake-up call I had — something I need from time to time. I’m sharing this now because my moment happened during the holidays — just the time when you don’t want a wake-up call! Well, it happened, and it reminded me that it’s so easy to get sloppy, especially since we’re surrounded by abundance and a seemingly endless supply of everything.

The community is invited to attend a reception on Monday, Feb. 24 5 p.m. in the Commission Chamber of City Hall honoring Commissioner Lanita Chapman and Commissioner Shasta Scott, who will be sworn in as City Commissioners for another 3-year term. The swearing-in ceremony will take place during the City Commission meeting, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Commission Chamber. Judge Bill Kirkpatrick will administer the oath of office. Chapman has served as a City Commissioner since 2008 and Scott has served as a City Commissioner since 2017. Both will assume office for their new terms on March 1, 2020.
