On Saturday, October 17th 2020, beginning at around 5 p.m., Chapter 750 of the V.V.A (Vietnam Veterans Association) of Ponca City held their annual “Watchfire” at the Party Lot of the V.F.W. parking lot off of Prospect St.

Assisted by the Boy Scout Troupes 555 and 556 Pack 3571 and Scouts Venturing Crew 2556, they helped to dispose of approximately 700 damaged American Flags by Fire with Honor.

The process lasted until 9:30 p.m. with flags being burned steadily for four and a half hours.

Not all flags were destroyed.
