The annual Purple Affair Fashion Event, the main fundraising event for the Survivor Resource Network, announced on it’s Facebook page that the event will be cancelled with regard to the health and safety of friends and family.

Survivor Resource Network exists to empower individuals, educate the community and advocate for justice to end domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.

A Purple Affair assists in meeting the needs to maintain Survivor Resource Network’s 24 hour emergency shelter. APA usually raises close to $40,000 so the organization is in need of monetary support. Survivor Resource Network served over 140 people in their five bedroom shelter in 2020, 40% of that number being children under 12, and were able to keep their shelter open all year. During 2020, the program directors served over 300 non-shelter residents with housing, protective orders and sexual assault exams.

Also during 2020, Survivor Resource Network were awarded a Platinum seal on Guidestar, the highest level of recognition that Guidestar awards.

The organization will still be hosting the Louis Vuitton Neverfull raffle to help raise funds for the shelter. Only 250 tickets will be sold - $25 each or 5 for $100. Tickets can be purchased on their website at survivorresourcenetwork. org, PayPal or calling 762- 2873. They will also be offering prizes for people who will follow their Facebook page.

“We want to encourage people to support our local merchants as they do such a marvelous job of supporting our clients!” said Tara Tyler, Executive Director at Survivor Resource Network in Ponca City.

Survivor Resource Network intends to host the Ponca City Herb Festival on June 5, 2021.

Donation of any amount are appreciated and can directly impact the work Survivor Resource Network provides for the community in 2021.

A list of methods to help out can be found at http://www. survivorresourcenetwork.org/ donate.html, donations can be made PayPal or sent to PO Box 85.

“We’d like supporters to know that not only have we responsibly served Kay County for over 40 years, but strive to provide the highest level of trauma-informed care for the many who seek our services,” said Tyler.
