This holiday season Ponca City Soroptimists have created an Angel Tree for children of struggling families in our community.

“We decided to do something different to help a few women with children in our community have a happier holiday,” said Heather Sumner, SIPC vice-president and project chair.

The tree has been set up in PC Provisions, 312 E. Grand. They are open Tuesday-Friday from 8am-2 pm and Saturdays from 9am-2 pm.

“Stop in Provisions, grab your favorite beverage, breakfast or lunch and select a family to help this holiday season,” said Tracy Ogden, co-chair and SIPC director. Once you’ve purchased your unwrapped gifts contact Heather at 580-352-0934 to either drop it off with an SIPC members or have someone pick them up. Deadline for SIPC members to receive the gifts is Monday, Dec. 14.

SIPC is Ponca City’s only international service organization for professional women. Soroptimist improves the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Founded in 1921, Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. Almost 100,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community-based projects benefiting women. Persons wanting to learn
