The Ponca City Main Street (PCMS) organization will be hosting its first Fox Art Show in the Link at City Central throughout the month of December from 8 am to 5 pm on weekdays.

This Fox Art Show will showcase pieces by local artists who submitted their art for the Ponca City Main Street’s Fox Art Contest that was held earlier in the fall.

The Fox Art Contest served as a nod to Ponca City’s fox history and featured two categories: Fine Art and Kid-Friendly Art.

Winners of the contest were Haley Oswalt in the Fine Art category and Lori Hawkins in the Kid-Friendly category. Both categories had $250 prizes for the winners, and their artwork will be placed on merchandise sold at www.poncacitymarketplace. com to help offset the operating costs of the site and keep it free for local merchants to use to sell their items.

The contest brought in nearly 50 entries with artists ranging in age from elementary school to senior citizens. It was due to the large number of entries that PCMS decided to host the Fox Art Show, as a means to showcase all the pieces of art submitted during the contest.

“We were blown away by the incredible community response we had for the Fox Art Contest,” said Maci Heppel, Ponca City Main Street executive director. “We hope to make the Fox Art Contest and Fox Art Show, annual events to showcase the amazing artists we have right here in Ponca City.”
