• PCPS appreciates the inperson instructional time we had last week; however, as expected there were many close contact quarantines at PO-HI and several elementary classrooms transitioned to Distance Learning. PO-HI will remain on Distance Learning due to a high number of staff affected by COVID-19 and will return to in-person learning on Monday, 1.25.2021. Several elementary classrooms are scheduled to return to in-person learning on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Teachers will keep parents informed.

1.11 - Due to 8 weekend contact tracing investigations and several on Monday, 1.11, we had a great deal of students affected. 1 elementary classroom at Garfield, Trout, Washington PreK, and 2 elementary classrooms at Woodlands Elementary transitioned to Distance Learning for 10 days due to an inschool positive. There were 12 weekend and Monday close contact investigations at PO-HI involving two varsity activites.

1.12 - 1 PO-HI contact tracing investigation resulted in several close contact quarantines for 10 days.

1.13 - No in-school contact tracing; numbers relfect family isolations and close contacts not affecting school.

1.14 - East Middle School contact tracing investigation resulted in several close contact quarantines for 10 days, and 1 elementary classroom at Washington PreK resulted in a classroom being transitioned to Distance Learning for 10 days.

1.15 - No in-school contact tracing; numbers relfect family isolations and close contacts not affecting school.

• We only had 2 weekend close contact investigations that involved no activities. With vaccinations in process, we are hopeful to gradually move to more normalcy and fewer interruptions.

• Our goal is to have as many in-person contact days as possible. Please help us achieve this goal during these difficult times by practicing protocols during non-school hours. However, if a site experiences a high number of student and staff isolations/quarantines, or if we cannot staff a building to ensure safety and supervision, we will transition a site/ sites to Distance Learning for a period of 10 days. Be prepared with plans for Distance Learning for your child if the situation warrants. Keep up to date with our sites on our PCPS Contact Tracing Spreadsheet at www.pcps.us.

With such high positivity rates, it is imperative EVERYONE do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing face coverings, watching your distance, washing your hands, avoiding large group gatherings, and staying home if experiencing symptoms. People in quarantine should stay home, separate themselves from others, monitor their health, and follow directions from their state or local health department. PLEAS DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IF THEY ARE EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS OR IF SOMEONE IN THE HOUSEHOLD TESTS POSITIVE.
