Items the board were briefed on included ACT testing for Spring 2021, the ACT Review Committee met on Sept. 9, 2020 to discuss ACT vs. SAT as the state assessment for Ponca City High School Juniors. A survey providing information about Po-Hi’s testing plan was emailed to parents and Junior students and the response was in favor of using the ACT as the assessment for Juniors.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott provided her report including new and revised board policies, as well the a COVID-19 update. The risk level has been lowered to Orange Level 1 - Moderate Risk, and as of the week of Oct. 5, there was only 1 in-school positive with no weekend positives over Oct. 10 to Oct. 11. Policies were also introduced. Typically, these are introduced and discussed one month prior to approval by the board to allow time for further review and input before they are placed on the agenda for approval. Only one policy was approved during the meeting: The Child Nutrition Procurement Plan.

The board also approved the personnel report as it was presented.
