In response to Covid-19 social distancing practices, Ponca City Development Authority (PCDA) has accelerated several community workforce retention and attraction projects. Starting with a series of videos thanking our Ponca City community and essential workers, a paint by numbers community mural on the south wall of City Central and now, set to be unveiled in late July, is Central Fare, an outdoor food court and seating area.

Central Fare will be a green space in the downtown area, with picnic tables, sunshades, string lights, and electrical outlets. All areas will be ADA accessible. The rental parking spaces will be adequate for up to three food trucks for events or just room for people to physically distance while enjoying social time such as a meal, outside. Once completed, Central Fare will be another leasable space to increase the offerings of City Central events, continue to provide adequate space for social distancing and be another attraction to bring people to our wonderful downtown area. Local eateries are encouraged to promote the outdoor tables as a lunch-time seating option.

Central Fare is located on a parcel of land which was part of the property donated to the City of Ponca City in late 2016. Named City Central after being given to PCDA by the City to manage, it is being used to diversify building offerings to primary and target industries such as back office operations and healthcare.

A $1.25 million federal matching grant was awarded to PCDA for City Central renovations which included installation of a large event space on the lower level, a co-working space on the first floor, a new roof and chiller/HVAC unit.
