OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City VA Health Care System (OKCVAHCS) announced today it is providing COVID-19 vaccinations to anyone who served in the military, and their caregivers and spouses, and some other beneficiaries under the authority granted by the SAVE LIVES Act, signed by President Joe Biden March 24, 2021.

The expanded authority depends on readily available COVID-19 vaccine supply and requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to continue to prioritize Veterans enrolled in VA care.

“Since the start of the pandemic, OKCVAHCS has been focused on vaccinating as many Veterans as possible, and we are excited to multiply our efforts thanks to the SAVE LIVES Act,” said Wade Vlosich, Director, OKCVAHCS.

Those eligible under the SAVE LIVES Act to receive a vaccine can go to https://www.va.gov/health-care/covid-19-vaccine/stay-informed to register and stay informed on VA’s vaccine rollout process. It is recommended those eligible to register at least 24 hours prior to walking in to receive the vaccine.

Enrolled Veterans can call 405-456-7119, option 2 to schedule an appointment to receive a COVID-19 vaccination, or simply walk-in to the OKC VA Medical Center, Monday – Friday, from 6am – 5:30pm. Veterans not yet enrolled can visit https://www.va.gov/health-care/apply/application/introduction or call our toll-free hotline at 877-222-8387 to apply for VA health care benefits. Veterans may also visit one of our local Eligibility Offices, located in the OKC VA Medical Center and the Lawton Community Based Outpatient Clinic.

Veterans, caregivers, and spouses that have been waiting for the one-shot Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) Covid-19 vaccine now have the opportunity to get vaccinated.

The Oklahoma City VA Health Care System will be holding a Janssen / Johnson & Johnson Single Dose COVID-19 Vaccine Kick Off Walk-in Event on Saturday, April 10 from 8 AM to 4 PM at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center.

• Availability of vaccine is first-come, first-served.

• Social distancing and masks are required by those interested in getting the shot.

• Individuals will need to fill out a single-page release form upon arrival.
