The Ponca City Board of Commissioners met Monday evening at City Hall.

All items on the consent agenda were approved, including the minutes from a regular session on Dec. 23 and the work session on Jan. 6.

Other items approved included a resolution appropriating money for payment of claims against the City of Ponca City and the vote on a resolution waiving city code for a City-Wide Garage Sale to be held on March 28 of this year and waiving the $5 permit fee in conjunction with the City’s Annual Spring Cleanup which will be held March 28 through April 4, 2020. City Manager Craig Stephenson announced that the Northern Oklahoma Animal Care Facility was purchased on Hubbard Road. He also spoke of the repairs being done to the building including the roof, windows and fencing. Stephenson said that an architect has been secured as well.

Another announcement was that the RecPlex and Wentz Golf Course will be open on the upcoming holiday of Martin Luther King Day. The city offices will not be open next Monday. The construction work that has been occurring at Hartford Ave. and Kygar Rd. was also discussed. The purpose of this presentation was to show the difference in spending, the amount of reconstruction that was added to the project and the amount of improvements that were made through before and after pictures of the project.

Also discussed was the new concession stand that will be added at the Rec-Plex in the old Aquatics Office. This will be called Ruby Nutrition PC LLC and is a branch of Diamond Nutrition. Ruby Nutrition will offer smoothies and teas and after the approval they are now able to begin setting up the new concession stand inside the Rec-Plex and will be opening for business later this year.

The City Commissioners meet the second and fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Commission Chamber at 516 E. Grand Ave in City Hall. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the city’s decision making process.
