The City of Ponca City’s free fireworks display at Lake Ponca will be held on Saturday, July 4 at 9:50 p.m. The colorful, pyrotechnic and musically choreographed fireworks show will fill the night skies over beautiful Lake Ponca to celebrate Independence Day. The choreographed music for the fireworks display will be simulcast on local radio stations 100.7FM - KPNC and 99.3FM KLOR.

The City of Ponca City wants everyone to have a safe and fun July 4:

— As part of the safety zone, Lake Ponca Park will be closed Wednesday, July 1 thru Saturday, July 4 to allow for the setup of the display that will be located on the west dam of Lake Ponca, adjacent to the Lake Ponca Park.

— A safety zone will be buoyed off on Lake Ponca beginning at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. Water craft will not be allowed in the buoyed off area after 7:00 p.m.

— Private fireworks are not allowed on or around the Lake Ponca Recreation Area or any of the roadways or water areas around Lake Ponca.

— Everyone is encouraged to be diligent and careful when driving, as there will be a large amount of pedestrian traffic around roadways and crossing roadways. As the Lake Ponca Trail is now complete on the east side of Lake Ponca, this area will not be available for overflow parking. No parking will be allowed along the west side of LA Cann Drive between the road and the walking trail. However, the area located east of LA Cann Drive and north of the Sailboat Marina will be designated for overflow public parking on July 4.

— Please drink responsibly, and have a designated driver.

— And, keep CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guiding principles in mind at Lake Ponca. Closer and longer interaction with people who do not live together raises COVID-19 risk. The more an individual interacts with people not living in their home, and the closer and longer each interaction is, the higher the risk is of getting infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. For example, these three scenarios show how the risk of spreading the virus can go from low to high.

Lowest risk: Stay at least 6 feet away from people not living in your home. Do not share food, equipment, toys, or supplies with people not living in your home.

More risk: Stay less than 6 feet away from people not living in your home, but who live in the same local area. Limit sharing of food, equipment, toys, or supplies with others — for example, share only with a next-door neighbor. Highest risk: Less than 6 feet away from people who live in a different area, where the spread of the virus might be greater. Visitors freely sharing their food, equipment, toys, or supplies with others, even people they don’t know.
