The “Pioneer Women”, a multimedia musical theater production will be at the historic Poncan Theatre April 23-25. The production is set to provide a historical representation, through stories and music, of the 12 statues that E.W. Marland commissioned in the 1920s to honor the pioneer women that shaped America.

Additionally, there will be several artists that will be featured, lending their talents to the show.

• Marty Tipton is a trick roper and Cowboy Humorist. He is a fourth generation lasso spinning artist and has performed publicly since the age of nine. He has relative ties to Will Rogers by way of his Grandmother McSpadden. Tipton has toured from New York to L.A. and has performed in televised appearances across the nation including ABC Good Morning America and the Travel Channel Touring America and Broadway productions in Will Rogers Follies.

• Michael Littlevoice, Fancy/Spiritual Dancer, descends from the Ponca and Omaha tribes. He grew up in Ponca City and attended the Chilocco Indian School. Michael has performed across the country and gives presentations to schools and communities.

Twice a year he goes to San Quentin prison to speak to prisoners and their families. He is active with the local VFW where he has appeared in the annual Veteran’s Day Parade and most recently performed a spiritual dance for National Vietnam Veterans Day.

Michael has recently moved back home where he has constructed his own teepee. He enjoys meeting people and sharing the American Indian culture.

• Prairie Fire is a musical group which includes three sisters - Ashley, Hannah and Abigail Ballinger - from the family performing group which originally included six members hailing from Ponca City. They blended traditional bluegrass, folk, country and newgrass music echoing the past with youthful vibrancy. They have performed at Branson’s Silver Dollar City and various bluegrass music festivals in Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas. They were the youngest featured band at the 40th Walnut Valley Festival and in 2012 placed 3rd at the KSMU Youth in Band Contest and fifth In 2015.

They released two albums in 2015, Live at the Poncan Theatre and Boots Up: Live At the Poncan Theatre Part 2. Both are available on iTunes and Spotify.

General seating is available all performances for $25 and Saturday night April 24 Orchestra seat tickets are also available and include a postshow party for $50. Historical Prologues will be presented at 7:00 on Friday and Saturday and at 1:30 on Sunday prior to the performance. Tickets can be purchased through the Poncan Theatre.
