The Executive Director, Staff and Board of Directors of Edwin Fair Center are pleased to announce that Christian counseling will be added to the variety of services offered at the center.

After consultations among the staff and the board of directors, especially during these very difficult times in our country, it is felt that Christian counseling will provide a beneficial and needed addition to the counseling services presently offered.

For many if not most Oklahomans, faith is an integral part of their everyday lives and serves to strengthen not only their connections with God, but also their connections with fellow Christians.

Faith-based counseling has been a centerpiece for many Christian churches over the years, however, for various reasons it has been difficult to implement at an agency level.

This has not been the case among those recovering from addictions, where faith-based counseling and the 12 step programs of Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Celebrate Recovery has been an important part of successful treatment.

Historically, the agency’s founder, Dr. Edwin Fair, firmly believed that counseling those with mental illnesses and addictions is definitely “a ministry,” and he implemented pastoral counselors among his staff.

The present staff of Edwin Fair Center believes that Christian Counseling is especially timely and needed during the Coronavirus pandemic and the social upheaval ripping at the fabric of society.

Edwin Fair’s Christian Counseling will be centered around faith-building, healing trauma, restoration, reconciliation, overcoming addiction, and living by the spiritual principles taught within the Christian tradition.
