Kay County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and Women’s Leadership Committee recently donated money to the Wheatheart Nutrition organization, with Oklahoma Farm Bureau matching the donation. OKFB’s new Community Food Assistance for county Farm Bureaus, encourages county organizations to host a food drive, shop for food or provide a monetary donation to a local food assistance program and OKFB will match the donation up to $100.00.

Farmers and ranchers across Oklahoma create food, fiber, and fuel for people in their communities and Oklahoma Farm Bureau members understand the importance of giving back to their communities, especially in time of need.

When informed about the donation, Kristie Ropp, Project Director said, "Wheatheart Nutrition Project is an important part of our community that helps take care of our senior citizens. With the congregant sitting the people get to socialize, communicate, see friends and stay connected." With the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic there have been some adjustments to continue with the meals. Meals are being prepared daily, however it is drive thru to pick up the meals or home delivery. Onsite locations are currently closed to the public. Wheatheart Nutrition has a tentative reopening date of July 1, 2021.
