COVID-19 cases are climbing

COVID-19 cases across COklahoma continue to climb. More than 14,000 Oklahomans have tested positive for the virus since March.

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health on Thursday, there are 14,539 positive cases in Oklahoma, an increase of 427 reported cases on Wednesday. Six additional deaths have also been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the state death toll to 395.

Kay County is no exception in the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases.

Results on Thursday showed 104 Kay County residents have tested positive for the virus, an increase of six from Wednesday. Ponca City is responsible for 98 of those 104 cases.

No additional deaths have been reported in Kay County. Ponca City ranks 21st in the state in the number of positive cases. The three highest cities with positive cases continues to be Tulsa with 2,506 cases, Oklahoma City with 2,498 cases and Guymon with 821 cases.

A total of 355,200 Oklahomans have been tested for COVID-19 with 338,511 of those reported as negative test results.

It was also announced on Thursday that Oklahoma ended the fiscal year with a $585.5 million budget shortfall due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The state collected just more than $13 billion during the 12 months that ended June 30, 4.3 percent less than the previous year.

The OSDH has launched a new testing site dashboard, which includes an interactive map and updated site contact information. Please call test sites to make an appointment and confirm hours of operation before visiting.

In recognition of the Fourth of July, all OSDH offices and county health departments will be closed on Friday.
