The Kay County Board of Commissioners met Monday morning and discussed the many programs and events being offered through the OSU Kay County Extension Office.

Brenda Medlock, 4-H Extension Educator and Director, and Liz Nicholson, 4-H Educator, were both present at the meeting and discussed current programs and event.

The Extension Educators spoke about recent breads workshop by Colton Tripp, Kay County 4-H Vice President.

Twelve youth and two adults attended the event in order to follow the OSU guidelines on social distancing.

Medlock also spoke of a Co-Parenting for Resilience Course she held on June 11 in Ponca City at the Pioneer Technology Center to four parents. This course is a tool to assist divorcing or separating parents with valuable strategies and skills that foster resilience in children and help them overcome the negative effects of divorce.

The educators informed the county commissioners that this course is offered once a month and participants must register and pay a $35 fee.

Other topics spoke about included meetings and programming offered through Zoom such as a gardening meeting and cooking class for home child care providers to help limit exposure to the virus.

There will be a meeting on July 22 to discuss if the Kay County Fair will still be held.

All other agenda items were accepted.
