On Mon., Nov. 20, at approximately 7:40 pm Oklahoma City Comm Center put out a BOLO for a gold SUV. Benjamin Brady abducted a 6-year-old girl from Wichita, Kansas in a carjacking attempt. Brady was last seen southbound on Interstate 35 in Wichita at roughly 6:49 pm.

Officer Langston observed a gold Lexus SUV take the Tonkawa 214 exit. The car was attempting to make a left turn at the stop sign, but once Officer Langston activated his emergency lights on his patrol unit, the car drove to the right of the car sitting at the stop sign and made a right hand turn onto U.S. Highway 60. After the SUV continued at roughly 25 to 30 miles per hour, the driver pulled into the pilot gas station. Here, the driver was ordered out of the car at gun point by Officer Langston where he identified himself as Benjamin Brady. Brady’s license was run and came back suspended. He was read his miranda rights and agreed to speak with officers.

When asked when he realized that the child was in the car, he stated that he saw her when he got on the road and was trying to figure out what to do. Tonkawa Tribal Officer David Gallgher was able to get the child out of the car and take her back to his unit. Officer Langston spoke with the child and she repeated that Brady was not her dad. Officer Langston observed the odor of alcohol in the car.

An ambulance was requested for the child and the suspect. The child was cleared by the ambulance crew and turned over to the Wichita Police Officers Burris and Blanco. The child was safely returned to her family in Wichita and Brady was transported to Kay County Jail for booking and is being charged with Attempting to elude peace officer, abduction of a person under 15-years-old, unauthorized use of a vehicle, fail to stop at a stop sign, and operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license.
