There is a rise of animals, especially of the feline variety, currently waiting for forever homes in shelters all across the world. Ashley at Northern Oklahoma Humane Society, NOKHS, said at the local Chamber of Commerce meeting, “We’re drowning… from April to May we had an over 500% increase in owner surrender.” It is inevitable to become over run by animals when you’re in that line of work, but there is something we can do for the local fauna. NOKHS is throwing their second annual Unleashed Poker Run, hosted by Ody’s Bar.

To keep the lights on and animals taken care of, NOKHS relies heavily on donations. The proceeds made from this run go directly to the animals in need. To sweeten the pot even more, not only will the Taqueria Las Delicias food truck be there, but there will also be t-shirts for sale, first to third place prizes, a cash raffle, and a silent auction.

Registration begins at 9:45 a.m. for Buggies and 10:15 a.m. for Bikes with prices beginning at $25 a person and $10 for every extra passenger. The first stop of the day is at Tom’s place, then Char-Ron Lounge in Newkirk, Rockin’ Brews Casino in Braman, The Hub at Tonkawa Casino, Osage Casino and the final stop is at Ody’s bar. Last bike will be in at 4 p.m.
