Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt has announced that all non-essential businesses in Oklahoma in the 19 counties with at least one or more confirmed COVID-19 cases must close by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday for the next 21 days.
This includes close contact businesses such as hair salons, gyms, tattoo parlors, massage parlors, bars, etc.
Restaurants are encouraged to remain open while offering curbside/delivery options.
This announcement was made after it was announced that the number of positive COVID-19 tests in Oklahoma topped 100.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health said Tuesday morning that 106 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, up 25 from Monday morning. The number of positive cases in Kay County stands at five.
There have been three deaths in Oklahoma due to the virus with the third one being a woman in her 60s in Cleveland County.
Gov. Stitt is also restricting all gatherings to 10 people or less throughout the state. In addition he’s issuing a 14-day suspension of all elective surgeries, minor medical procedures and non emergency dental procedures.
The state will immediately suspend all visitation to nursing home and long-term care facilities.
“We are going to get through this,” said Stitt in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon. “We will come together during this difficult time and come out stronger than ever before.”
Stitt added that he thinks the number of positive cases in Oklahoma could be at least 500.
