Master Sergeant Melissa A. Simpson was born in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1999. She is the daughter of David and Barbara Evans and the sister of Mark Evans, all of Ponca City. Master Sergeant Melissa A. Simpson is the Flight Chief, Bioenvironmental Engineering Flight at Joint Base McGuire-Dix- Lakehurst Air Force Base in New Jersey. She entered the U.S. Air Force at 18 years old in October of 1999.

Inhofe applauds grant for Port of Catoosa

WASHINGTON — Today, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) applauded a $1.1 million grant to the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, Oklahoma, to improve the critical freight rail infrastructure in the busy port city. The grant, awarded by the U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), will be matched with $1.1 million in local investment and is expected to help retain 735 jobs.

“Jam” is open to anyone 55 or over who would like to sing, play an instrument or listen. The format is “Round Robin” where each person gets to sing or play a song of their choice. Each selection is limited to a maximum of 3 minutes. Volume must be kept to a reasonable level for the listening enjoyment of all. Listeners are always welcome!
