Recently, Newkirk Go-Getters 4-H Club members Samilynn DeCosta and Charli Evans presented to the Ponca City Landmark Cancer Center 10 care packages for their cancer patients. The care packages consisted of items for personal care, entertainment, spiritual encouragement, and sweet treats.

For nearly a month now, movies have attempted to reenter cinemas nationwide despite the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. The major front runner of this push was Christopher Nolan’s spy thriller Tenet, a film with a budget of $200 million, that has seen some overseas success, but the domestic box office has only grossed $29.5 million.

The Sauk (Sac) and Fox tribes originated from Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron in Michigan. Although the tribes have always been closely associated and share similar cultural norms, it was an attack by the French that forced them to band together.

Eddie and Kathey Farmer of Ponca City, Oklahoma celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on September 12, 2020. A small celebration with the family and friends will be held in their honor the weekend of September 19th, which also happens to be Kathey’s 60th Birthday, At Lew Wentz Camp.

A 21 Gun Salute Ceremony was held at Veteran’s Plaza on Friday at noon to honor POW/MIA Armed Services members from the state of Oklahoma. Mayor Homer Nicholson and State Representative Ken Luttrell, both Veterans themselves, were in attendance and speeches were given by Homer Nicholson and Mike Seals, as well as many other veterans who were there to honor those who have served and who are still missing. Stickers were placed next to the list of POW/MIA armed services members who were identified and brought back to their families after serving at war and this was followed by a 21 gun salute. Aldi grocery store, which is located at 1000 E. Prospect Ave. in Ponca City, will be closing at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20th through Monday, Nov. 2nd, 2020 temporarily for remodeling. The newly remodeled store will feature a brand new look, an expanded fresh section, a new easy-toshop store layout and aisle after aisle of savings.
