Elissa Jones and Kaden Jeffries are the Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) November Students of the Month. Jones is an adult student from Arkansas City and demonstrates dedication, responsibility and a high level of competency in the Practical Nursing program. According to her instructor her positive attitude in class and in clinicals makes her a great role model. Kaden Jeffries is a junior in the SHARE (Sharing Hope and Redefining Education) program at Pioneer Tech. He represents the Construction Technology program as Student of the Month. His instructor praises his new builder skills and attitude and that fact that he is always ready to complete any task given to him. First Physicians Capital Group celebrates healthcare workers on National Rural Health Day

OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 17, 2020) - First Physicians Capital Group (FPCG), an Oklahoma-based hospital management group, celebrates National Rural Health Day on Nov. 19. This day was created to celebrate the “Power of Rural” and bring awareness to rural healthcare. One in three Oklahomans lives in rural communities. As resources are dwindling, highlighting the importance of rural healthcare workers is needed to show appreciation to those who work in these communities. The role FPCG plays in the rural areas they serve provide healthcare and improvements to their hospitals around rural Oklahoma as well as invest philanthropically in the local communities.

Holiday Hop coming to Edmond

It’s an Old-Fashioned Holiday Hop! Dec 12th from 1-4:00 pm. “Hop” from station to station within the museum for FREE holiday crafts, activities, cocoa, and socially-distanced Santa photos. Christmas artifacts are on display as part of the “Back to the 1950s” exhibit. Attendees are invited to save 10% on all gift shop purchases, including holiday and handmade gifts.

I love Spider-Man. He is my favorite superhero and has been for as long as I can remember. I deeply identified with Peter Parker, seeing myself in the hero the same way many others had, my love of the character even influenced my interest in photography, which now I make a living in.

Woodlands students learn about Poppies and Veterans

Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center Hires New Education Director

ENID, Okla. — The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center has hired Dr. Neal Matherne as their new Education Director. Matherne is a heritage professional with a passion for helping museums and communities better understand each other. At the Field Museum of Natural History, Matherne cofacilitated outreach to the Chicagoland Filipinx community, linking them to the museum’s collection of 10,000 objects from the early twentieth-century Philippines. He comes to the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. Under a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Matherne conducted a two-year study on the relationship between Skidmore’s Tang Teaching Museum and Scribner Library through the use of primary source collections. He is also an ethnomusicologist with an interest in the Philippines and popular musics of the United States. He previously taught at the University of the Philippines Diliman, the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of California, Riverside.
