The Ponca City Bowling Association invites children of all ages to join a United States Bowling Congress bowling league and start earning scholarship money to be used for college tuition, books, and other school related expenses. The league will bowl on Saturdays at 1:30 pm (starting August 29) at Ponca Bowl. Coaching will be available.

Scholarship money raised locally is awarded based on the bowler participating in a league as well as their weekly bowling scores. Youth bowlers are also provided opportunities to earn more scholarship money through local, state, and national tournaments. Nationally, six million dollars is provided in scholarships each year and the number of colleges offering scholarships to bowlers is increasing. Within Oklahoma, the Grand Prix Program and both the State Bowling Association and the Ponca City Association conduct scholarship tournaments annually.

There are a number of other reasons children should join a league. These include getting exercise, improving hand and eye coordination, meeting new friends, learning a sport in which they can enjoy for the rest of their life, and learning sportsmanship. More importantly, no child sits on the bench wondering if they will get a chance to play. High School students joining the youth league will prepare them for success in the State’s High School Bowling program.
