Couple celebrates 70 years

Mr. and Mrs. Cleo H. Anderson of Edmond will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary on Sept. 18, 2020. Due to COVID-19, they are unable to get together so a card can be sent to them at 7900 Pleasant Oaks Drive, Edmond, OK 73034.

Hosts for a later celebration will be their children: Shirley Dowty and family of Woodward, Barbara Henderson and family of Edmond, Jimmy Anderson and family of Owasso and Leisa (Parent) Payne and family of Ponca City.

Cleo H. Anderson and the former Leona I. Collins were married Sept. 18, 1945, in Winfield, Kan. They made their first home in Pawnee and moved to Ponca City in 1947. They resided in Ponca City for 70 years before moving to Edmond in 2016.

Cleo served in WWII with the Fifth Army, 88th division in Italy from 1943-1944. He began working with Conoco in 1948 and retired in 1985. He served as a deacon at Second Baptist Church where they attended for 62 years.

Leona was employed with Gold Spot Dairy for over 12 years and with J.C. Penney’s for 17 years, retiring in 1988. She served in the nursery at her church for many years, sharing love and hugs to many children who still love her.

They have 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild due in February.
