During the American Farm Bureau “Virtual” Convention this week, the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture presented its 14th “Book of the Year” award to Viola Butler for “Tales of the Dairy Godmother: Chuck’s Ice Cream Wish.” This is Butler’s first published book. Art by Ward Jenkins, a well-known illustrator and storyboard artist. Chuck’s favorite food is ice cream, with the help of his Dairy Godmother, Chuck is taken on a memorable and delicious adventure to a dairy farm. He finds out exactly where ice cream comes from and gains an even deeper love and appreciation for his favorite food.

The “Book of the Year” is selected to reflect the a unique approach to storytelling, teaching about farming, ranching and educating people about agriculture and how it affects everyone’s lives. The Foundation’s effort is to identify “Accurate Ag Books” to build awareness, understanding, and a positive public perception of agriculture through education. The Accurate Ag Books database is available at: http://www.agfoundation.org/recommededpubs. To accompany “Chuck’s Ice Cream Wish, the Foundation has created an educator’s guide.
