PERRY -- Ponca City’s varsity boys wrestling team defeated the Perry Maroons for the second year in a row Tuesday night. The Wildcats outpointed Perry 46-30.
Little by little the Choctaw Lady Yellowjackets pulled away from the Ponca City Lady Cats to forge out a 46-34 victory Tuesday in Robson Field House. Choctaw led 14-8 after one quarter, only to see the Lady Cats go in a 6-0 run to tie the score at 14 each in the second quarter.
A huge second half put together by the visiting Choctaw Yellowjackets doomed the Ponca City Wildcat boys team 76-43 Tuesday at Robson Field House. The Wildcats started well, and trailed by only two, 13-11 after one quarter.
YUKON -- The Ponca City High School swim team placed high in the 23-school Yukon Invitational event last week. The boys team finished in third place with 211 points behind first place Carl Albert with 314 and Shawnee with 228.
The Lakers and their stars were at their best, the Eastern Conference favorite firing their best shots at LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook and only landing glancing blows. It happened seven games, in Milwaukee, on a night when the Lakers cooked up such a great performance that anything sort of felt possible.
Mac Jones and members of the Patriots offense were smiling and laughing on the sidelines after Pierre Strong’s touchdown gave them a two-score lead against the Cardinals in the fourth quarter. Jones was hugging and patting Matt Patricia, his playcaller, following the five-play drive.
