Six wrestlers qualify for State

JENKS -- Six Ponca City Wildcat wrestlers qualified for the Class 6A Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association Boys State Tournament in action over the weekend in the East Regional.

As a team the Wildcats finished in sixth place. Stillwater won the Regional and Bixby was second.

Two Ponca City wrestlers finished in second place in their weight division. Christopher Kiser was second at 113 pounds and Gabe Roland was 2nd at 215. Four Wildcat wrestlers placed fourth in their weights. Jimmy Swenson was fourth at 106, Cameron Kiser was fourth at 120, Preston Lee was fourth at 132 and Ryker Agee was fourth at 144. Jack Swenson was sixth at 126 and will be an alternate wrestler at the State.

Those who finish in the top five at the Regional qualify for the state. Those who place fourth and fifth compete in the wrestle-in round to advance to the main bracket.

Adisyn Ivers finished fourth in the Girls Regional earlier in the week and will wrestlein at 145 pounds in the girls bracket.

Team standings in the Jenks East Regional: 1. Stillwater, 305.5 points; 2. Bixby, 285.5; 3. Broken Arrow, 215.5; 4. Owasso, 147.5; 5. Sand Springs, 141.5; 6. Ponca City, 124; 7. Tulsa Union, 104; 8. Enid, 68; 9. Edmond Santa Fe, 48; 9. Jenks, 48; 11. Southmoore, 39; 12. Norman, 34.5; 13. Bartlesville, 34; 14. Muskogee, 22; 15. Putnam City West, 18; 16. Capitol Hill, 0.

The State Tournament will be Friday and Saturday at the State Fairgrounds Arena in Oklahoma City.
