Betty Ann Thorpe passed away peacefully in her home in Universal City, Texas on July 7, 2020. She was born on April 22, 1932 to parents Madge Sullivan and Richard Botkin in Meade, KS. Betty graduated from East High School in Wichita, KS. She married her high school sweetheart, Marion “Gene” Thorpe on December 29, 1951.

Carol Jean Clark Bellin of Deer Creek, Oklahoma, died Friday evening, July 10, 2020, in the Community Health Center in Wakita, Oklahoma, at the age of 96 years. John Clarence and Lottie Marie (Tarrell) Clark were married on Aprl 4, 1923, in Brookings, South Dakota.

Edward Lee “Speck” McKinnis, lifelong Tonkawa resident, died on Friday, July 10, 2020. He was 96. A celebration of Speck’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 in the Chapel of the Trout Funeral home of Tonkawa. Military honors will be presented by the United States Navy with burial following in the Tonkawa IOOF Cemetery. Pastor Joshua Reese of Christian Life Church will officiate. The grandsons will serve as casket bearers. Masks are not required, but requested. Viewing will be available at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9am-8pm.

Graveside memorial service will be held on July 20, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley, Kan. for Susanne Patterson, who died Oct. 16, 2019 in Generation Home Plus, east of Arkansas City, Kan.

James (Jim) B. Gilbert of Vero Beach, Florida died Monday , July 6, 2020 at Palm Garden Nursing Center of Vero Beach, Florida.

Norman Elwood Humble departed this world to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 9, 2020. Norman was Born on March 21, 1937 to Jerry Russell and Olga Amanda Humble in Braman, OK.

Byrdie Ruth Phillips Johnson, beloved mother and grandmother died July 7, 2020. She was a long-time resident of Ponca City, OK. She moved to Midwest City, OK in January 2018 to live near her daughter in an assisted living community. She was born August 19, 1931 in Kansas City, MO and was the only child of Champ Clark and Byrdie Katherine Nothnagel Phillips. Her mother died when she was 3 days old. Byrdie lived in several homes during her childhood and moved to Newton, KS to live with her aunt and later in high school lived with Earl and Olive Beamgard. She graduated from Newton High School in 1949.

Karen Sue Mackey Whiles, age 68, long time resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at her home. A ceremony to celebrate Sue’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, July 13, 2020 at the Northeast Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Melton officiating.

A Funeral Ceremony will take place at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Blackwell Tabernacle, Blackwell, OK, with Pastor Clifford Johnson officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Eddy New Home Cemetery, Deer Creek, OK. Viewing will be 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Monday, July 13, 2020, at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, Ponca City.
