Ronald Hullet, age 72, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Ron lived in Hot Springs, with his wife of almost 12 years, Nora Cole. He is survived by five children: Trica Hullet of Magnolia, TX; Rhonda Gropp (Stephen, Abigail, Mitchell, and Lilly) Magnolia, TX; Darren Hullet (Katie, Jackson, and Elena) Leesburg, Virginia; Adri Hullet (Allyson) Austin, TX; and Lindsay Hullet, Fort Worth, Texas. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and one sister; he has one surviving brother, Gary Hullet.

Ron served his county for many years, first in the Navy and then with the National Security Agency. His time in the Navy was spent on submarines monitoring the Russians. The Navy gave him the opportunity to travel and visit different countries (Japan, Guam, and the Philippines) something he had dreamed of doing as a child. During his years with NSA as a Russian linguist, he was able to, once again, satisfy his dream of travel. He spent time in Australia, London, Warsaw, Russia, New Zealand, and Canada. Much of the work Ron did as a linguist for NSA, he did not speak about. However, more than once, information he was able to gather was invaluable to our country’s security.

Ron had an insatiable appetite for knowledge and adventure and lived his life that way. He loved to play basketball, golf, and baseball – and true to his nature, took each sport seriously, played hard, played to win, and loved every minute. He never met a stranger, no matter where he was or what he was doing. He had a gift of simply walking up to someone and within five minutes, they were laughing and talking like old friends. He never walked by a vet without stopping, thanking them for their service, and shaking their hand.

He was devoted to his church, Lakeside Baptist, and loved playing his trombone in the Hot Springs Concert Band. He loved working out in his yard and spent many hours meticulously caring for his lawn. His generosity of spirit, humor, and willingness to help were continued even in death, as his wishes for his body to be donated to science were fulfilled. He was a blessing to many and will be greatly missed.

Be at peace. Stand down. We have the watch.
