Margaret Ruth Nelsen, 93, of Ponca City, left this earth on June 20, 2020. A private, family graveside ceremony will take place at Odd Fellows Cemetery, with Pastor Ned Moerbe officiating. Public viewing will be from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Trout Funeral Home. The graveside ceremony will be broadcast live. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a later date.

Margaret was born on November 5, 1926, in Columbus, Ohio, to Lawrence B. “Buster” and Margaret A. (Magyar) Grayson. As a child, Margaret lived in an orphanage during the Great Depression, while her parents traveled for work. She graduated high school and attended NOC in Tonkawa. She married Howard Nelsen on July 8, 1951.

She worked as a receptionist for her husband, Dr. Howard Nelsen, at HK Chiropractic and also worked at Jackson’s Jewelry. She later became a real estate agent in Blackwell.

During the 60’s, Margaret was a Campfire leader and an assistant leader of the Cub Scouts.

She was also a member of the Blackwell Garden Club. Margaret enjoyed photography, art and gardening. After retirement, she and her husband lived in Weslaco, TX, for half of the year.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Howard, son, David Nelsen and his wife, Mel, of Ponca City, daughter, Deborah Nelsen of Midwest City, son, Daniel Nelsen and his wife, Hannah, of Stillwater; grandchildren, Kevin Nelsen, Nick Nelsen, Tim Nelsen, sister Beatrice Grayson of Dallas, TX, and brother, Steve Grayson of Cincinnati, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
