Body

I was born March 10th 1949, on a Thursday, to Wendell and Marjorie Wilkins. I passed on to a better home, on a Friday, July 14th, 2023.

Between these two dots in time I will attempt to fill in the dash with some random thoughts.

High school was just a necessary evil, even though one teacher, Ms. La Velle Wittmer, was a huge inspiration and encouraged my creative writing talent. After school was fun following band schedules and attending sock hops. Many hours were also spent dragging Grand. It was also during this time some guy attending a football game caught my attention.

After high school this guy, John A. (Butch) Hanna, and I become really close friends. So close that we got married December 1st, 1967. A lot of people said it wouldn’t last. They were right, however, it took over 55 years to figure that out.

I developed an attraction to E T, and accumulated a unique collection of memorabilia. When items for this collection were not available, a long term collection of Coca Cola memorabilia began.

I always loved the mountains and moved to Colorado for a couple of years. I enjoyed the mountains especially the time spent at the cabin, in Bailey, CO. But could never lose the desire to move back to my native home of Ponca City, OK.

About twenty years I enjoyed being a part of Beta Sigma Phi, Rho Chapter, of Ponca City. Many lifelong friendships were established here. A great time was had, at a variety of different types of functions.

Travel was a treasure, and I was able to cover most of the lower forty eight states and a trip to Acapulco, Mexico. One highlight of travel was an Alaskan Cruise. With great friends Bobby and Becky Gray, Joe and Gail Walcott, and Lonny and Connie Westberg.

Many friends and relatives are left behind. John (Butch) Hanna, my husband, who was a big thorn-in-my-side as well as my best friend. Neva Jo Balduff, my sister, who was my closest ally, through all the storms, politics, and sporting events. Actually she was more of a mother than a sister. Man, what a since of humor we shared. Wilma Wilkins, step mother, Dennis Hanna, brother-inlaw, mostly considered as a little brother and through the ups and downs the love was always there. Steve Balduff (nephew) and Sherry Davis (niece) these two were like a younger brother and sister. Danielle Davis, granddaughter who I taught to cook and enjoyed crafting with. She also brought in all the fur babies I didn’t want. Also Danielle shared her circle of friends and extended family, who I was known to as Nanny. Michael Davis, must be the most loving and forgiving person I know. Through all of my demands and expectations, Michael has always been there to provide for me. He is the greatest tech support you could have. I loved him and the many movies we watched together. Suzy Albee (David) cousin, thank you for the hours of conversation and taking care of me in the final hours. Staci Smith (Albert) and family Gail Walcott and Terri Steele, best friends forever. My companion dog, during the day, Rosie Preceded by parents Wendell Wilkins, Marjorie Moriarity, brother-in-law Fred Balduff, sister-in- law Nan Hanna, son Brian Paul Hanna (1970-2003), daughter Tiffany Elan Davis (19742017), in addition to many pets including Snow Ball and Princess.

To sum this up in my final words, “IT WAS A GOOD RIDE.”

A memorial celebration of life will be held August 12th, 2023, at the Four Square Church of Ponca City. Formerly, the old Lincoln School, enter off of Chestnut, It will be a come and go between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00 PM.
