Keith (Bear) Cannady, age 65, of Ponca City passed away December 22, 2023 after a short battle with cancer.

Keith was born July 3rd, 1958 in Ponca City, OK the fourth child of Zane L. Cannady and Elizabeth Murray Symon Cannady. He was raised in Ponca City; graduating from Ponca City High School in 1977.

Keith worked as an auto mechanic; owning his own shop, Bear Tracks, at one point in downtown Ponca City.

Keith enjoyed going to the stock car races in Enid, and Nascar Races, when he had an opportunity to attend. He also loved his Harley when he was able to ride; even going to Sturgis on more than one occasion. He belonged to the “Legion Riders” when he owned his Harley. Keith was also known to make homemade chocolate chip cookies and would take them to the Mission in Ponca City. He also enjoyed his time when helping with movie sets, especially Twister.

He is survived by his siblings: Susan Adkins (and husband Dennis) of Stillwater, Mitch Cannady of Tonkawa, Karen Kline of Bixby, Vicki VanCuren (and husband Monty) of Ponca City, Tina Bose (and husband Mark) of Lake Charles, LA and Sister-in-law Barbara Ailey of Ponca City. Plus, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Junior.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents Zane L. Cannady, Elizabeth Murray Symon Cannady and younger brother Christopher (Cub) Zane Cannady.

The memorial service will be held Saturday Dec. 30th at 11:00am at Ponca City Church, 701 West Chestnut Ave. Ponca City, OK.

In lieu of flowers Keith has requested donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Northern Oklahoma Humane Society, 900 West Prospect Ave. Ponca City, OK 74601.
