Johnny was born on July 24, 1952 in Bakersfield, California to Thelma Louise Pappan, adopted and raised by Johnnie and Alpha Violet (Gilliland) Pappan.

Johnny grew up in Florence, KS. He attended high school in Borger, TX. He joined the US Army and served in Vietnam from 1971-1972. After serving his country he attended Okmulgee Tech and Oklahoma State University. He retired from many years of welding to enjoy his time with his archery brothers and sisters. He recently married Sandra Dee Manthei on June 13, 2020 in Ponca City, OK.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Louise Pappan Newell, parents, Johnnie Lee and Altha Violet Pappan and brother Michael Leroy Angel.

Survivors include, wife Sandy Pappan and man’s best friend Tippy, of the home, daughter Sara Louise Bacon of Oklahoma City, OK, sons Johnny Lee Pappan of Florissant MO, Jason Lee Pappan (Chambers) of Portage WI, his pride and joy granddaughters Kaitlyn Mae Bacon and Breana Rose Bacon, Destiny Chambers and Kierra Chambers, siblings Danny Forrest Angel (Nancy) of Neosho MO, Bonnie Arand of Hodgen OK, Jan Newlin of Ponca City, OK, Terri Weatherly of Ponca City, OK and Dana Davis of Newport, IN, favorite Niece Stephanie Richardson of Newkirk, OK and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and more friends than he could count.

The celebration of life will be 3 PM Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Kaw Pow Wow grounds in the community building, 12613 E Furguson Ave., Kaw City, OK 74641. Burial will follow at Washunga Cemetery. Care is under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donation be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758516. Topeka, KS 66675.
