Jimmy Lee Martin (Big Jim) of Ponca City, OK, was called home on November 23, 2021, peacefully at the Wichita VA.

Jim was born on December 9, 1944, in Ponca City OK. His Parents were Henry “Hank” Lee and Peggy Louise Martin (Dooley) of Ponca City, OK.

Jim enlisted in the United States Army in March of 1963 as a 63B20 Wheel Vehicle Mechanic at Fort Benning Georgia. He left stateside with the 7th Army division in Europe and USAG 93rd Artillery Brigade at Army Base Stuttgart in Germany. Returned to Fort Hood 88th Trans Co 1966.

The world has lost a great man, a Big Man! Jim’s interests and accomplishments were wildly varied and skilled, but had rigorous commitment to work ethic and loyalty. For many many years there was a hell of trio that ran around together having wild adventures. We can never get enough stories about Jim, Cookie and Louie. We don’t believe that any of the wild adventures and stories should be written down. (Evidence)

Jim thoroughly enjoyed racing, flipping up those rooster tails, mud racing, four wheeling and being in the shop with his kids and grandkids. Jim never missed a chance Driving his team of horses and making a grand entrance at the Rodeo’s. He was man of many hats, from the grease, sand, mud to walking in the ballroom and bars with those starched shirts, jeans, and his beautiful sharp silver belly hat. Jim has arrived! Playing that beautiful blonde MANDOLIN in band with long life time friends and family always getting each gig started whether they were in field on a trailer or in the bars.

Jim is preceded in death by both his parents Hank and Peggy, sister Connie, daughter in law Misty and Longtime friend Cookie Scott.

Jim (Dad, Grandpa, Granddad and Buddy) leaves behind a hell of a Legacy and family. Jimmy Jr, Thomas, Randy and wife Christie, Christine and husband Mike, Michael and wife Joyce, Jimmy-Justine and Krystal.

Grandchildren: Tommy Jr. and wife Jessica, Allison and husband Caleb, Dustin and wife Amanda, Brian, Meghan and husband Jake, Savannah, Carlee, Allison, Rylee, Harlee, Maddie and Brodix.

Great grandchild: Kiley, Rustyn, Baylee, Racyn, Reid, Tatum, Asher, Ryker, Abel, Raegan

Partner in crime Rhonda Wolf (buddy) and longtime friend Louie Womack, Jay DeNoya and wife LaDonna.
