Gary Harland Moore of Burbank, Oklahoma departed this life on October 29, 2023 at his home in Burbank to be with his Lord and Savior. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Burbank with Pastor Dennis Wildman on November 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with interment following at the Burbank cemetery.

Gary was born on April 30th, 1941 in Dennison, Texas the only child of Harley and Jessie (Donavon) Moore. This is where his father was employed by the Dennison Dam. Gary grew up in Burbank and remained there his entire life, as did his parents and grandparents. Gary’s paternal grandfather made the Oklahoma land run in 1893, and then relocated to Burbank to work in the oilfield.

Gary was a member of the Osage Nation. Gary graduated from Burbank High School in 1960 where he met the love of his life, Minnie Pearl Bonner. Gary and Minnie were married on May 10th, 1960 just prior to their high school graduation and were married 63 wonderful years. Gary then graduated from Oklahoma State, Okmulgee and then continued his education at Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Education. They were blessed with two sons, Jerry Don and Terry Wayne of Burbank.

Gary worked as a mechanic, pumper for an oil company, an Osage County truck driver, then taught auto mechanics at Shidler High School where he retired in 1994. Highlights of Gary’s retirement were hearing from former students.

He was active in the Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Sunday School Teacher. Gary served his community by sitting on the Burbank School Board, an officer of the Burbank Alumni Association, the Town of Burbank Board of Trustees, and the Mayor of Burbank. Gary retired from the Burbank Volunteer Fire Department after serving 21 years.

Gary and Minnie loved following their sons to all their various sports, 4-H activities, and boy scout events. They also enjoyed supporting their grandchildren’s activities throughout the years. Gary was especially thankful for Joyce Moore, who spent every Sunday evening watching America’s Funniest Home Videos.

Gary is survived by wife Minnie, sons Jerry Don and Terry Wayne and Edna of Burbank. Grandchildren: Heather Moore and Alex Myatt of Ponca City, Jessica and Timmy Goodfox of Hominy, Dustin Moore of Ponca City, Harleigh Moore-Wilson and Colt Wilson of Hominy, Preston Moore of Fairfax, Terry Moore II, Jessie Moore, and Matthew Moore of Burbank. Great-Grandchildren: Addison and Harland Moore, Anna and Lenora Pearl Goodfox, Elizabeth Moore. Cousin: Danny Moore II and Karen Moore. Sister In Laws: Bonnie Houston, Martha McKinney, Ellie Cavett and Brother In-Law: Ted McKinney. Several nieces and nephews, family members, and friends.

Gary is proceeded in death by parents: Harley and Jessie Donavon Moore, maternal grandparents: Nona Keller and Jesse C. Donavon, and paternal grandparents: Fred and Cora Moore all of Burbank, OK. Aunt and Uncle Maxine and Orval Moore of Burbank. Brother In-Law: Doyal Houston of Newkirk, OK.

In Lieu of flowers, Gary’s family asks that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Burbank or the Town of Burbank, for care of the Burbank cemetery. The family of Gary wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Humanity Hospice especially the wonder nurses Beth Pruett, Heather Moore, Kelsea Eckert, and Kira Looper for the care that was provided during Gary’s last days Pallbearers are cousin Danny Moore and grandsons Dustin Moore, Terry Moore II, Alex Myatt, Timmy Goodfox, and Colt Wilson.
