Dex Asher Trenary was born on October 31, 2005 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Ponca City, OK. He was adopted from birth by Justin and Darcey Trenary. Justin was serving in the military and Dex was raised in Virginia, Hawaii, and Texas. He lived in Newkirk, Oklahoma since 2017. Dex passed away on July 13, 2020. He was 14 years old.

He lived a life full of fun and adventure. He was an active child that loved to play with absolutely anyone. He especially loved Minecraft, Legos, Pellet Rifles, Fishing, and building things with his dad in the workshop. He was a competitive boardgame player and loved to challenge his mother at any game. He cherished reading with his mother. Dex liked to pester his little sister, but the bickering always gave way to smiles and laughing while riding scooters, tubing behind a boat, or playing video games together. He would spend hours building bonfires with his granddad. He took a great deal of pride in beating his “Grammie” at a card game called “Speed”. He looked forward to the weekends when he could spend the night with his “Mimi” and be allowed to indulge in TV and sweets. Dex played tennis and golf and his “Papa” would take him golfing every week, even if it was raining.

Dex was a member of the First Baptist Church Youth group and looked forward to home-hosting “Disciple Now” for 14-18 teens for a weekend each winter. Dex was full of energy and always had a smile on his face, even though he was self-conscious about his braces. Dex professed faith in Jesus Christ and was saved when he was 11 years old. 2 Corinthians 5:8 “To be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord”.

He is survived by his mother, Darcey Trenary; his father, Justin Trenary; his sister, Breiden Trenary; his maternal grandparents, Roger and Terry Blubaugh; his paternal grandparents, Martin and Marie Trenary as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the First Baptist Church. Those unable to attend may watch the live stream that will be available through the First Baptist Church’s website, www.fbcponca.org, and click on the “Watch Live” icon.
