Debra (“Debbie/Deb”) Sue Covey, of Ponca City, passed away on July 24, 2023, at Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. She was 61 years old and fought a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Deb was born on April 8, 1962 to Chuck and Betty Covey of Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was a 1980 graduate of Ponca City High School. She managed Betty’s Boutique, working alongside her mom for many years and was actively involved in the Ponca City Main Street and Chamber of Commerce, where she served on many committees. When her mom retired and closed the store, Deb went on to be manager of Factory Connection in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She made friends everywhere she went, and her customers loved her as well.

Deb was an avid OSU Cowboy fan, and she loved spending time at Roaring River in Missouri. She was lovingly called Mimi by her grandchildren and loved spending time with them and attending their activities. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.

Deb is survived by her mother, Betty Covey; daughter Tiffany Kawik; grandsons, Rian Covey and Quinn Covey; bonus daughter, Crystal Campbell; nephew, William Covey and wife Sarah and their sons Kalon and Brayten; her uncle Dennis Hutcheson; cousins Larry Hutcheson and wife Brenna and Terri Gordon and husband Tony, as well as many cousins and her long time friends Lisa Hinch, Jamie Higgins, and Darla Aikers.

She was preceded in death by her father, Chuck Covey; brother, Brad Covey; paternal grandparents, Verl and Irene Covey; maternal grandparents, Roy and Dorothy Hutcheson; and her aunt Theresa Hutcheson.

Casket bearers will be Freddy Kawik, Larry Hutcheson, Neil Hinch, Darren Swain, Chuck Lawler and Greg Teasley.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Carolyn Renfro Event Center, 445 Fairview, Ponca City, Oklahoma. Service is under the direction of Trout Funeral Home. The family will be at 1251 S. McCord, Ponca City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview, Ponca City, OK 74601 in her name.
