Clifton Tony Wyatt, age 92, longtime resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 in Ponca City.

A graveside celebration of Tony’s life will be held at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas at a future date and time to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Tony was born on March 25, 1928 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Harry Miller and Stella (Paris) Wyatt. He was raised in Antlers, Oklahoma and graduated high school there in 1946. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a member of the occupying forces in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his honorable discharge, Tony attended Oklahoma A & M where, in 1956, he earned a Bachelors degree in Engineering. While in college, in December of 1953, he met Betty Griffith for coffee at the Chamber of Commerce in McAlestar after being set up by his mother. They were married August 22, 1954 having celebrated 66 years of marriage without an argument with one another. Following college, Tony first worked for McDonnell Douglas aircraft and then began his career with Conoco in 1960. Conoco moved him to Montana, Texas, Arkansas and then Grimsby, England before returning to Ponca City in 1970. Tony worked in Ponca City until his retirement in 1985. Hunting, fishing, and golfing were some of the activities Tony enjoyed in his spare time. He also adored traveling, especially to our beautiful national parks. As well, he and Betty are long time members of Woodlands Christian Church.

He will be dearly missed by his loving family.

Survivors include his wife Betty of Ponca City, daughter Cheryl Simmons and husband Kevin of Stillwater, OK, son Tony Wyatt and wife Belinda of Ponca City, siblings: Bill Wyatt and wife Carol of Tucson, AZ, Priscilla Rives and husband Bob of Wichita, KS; grandchildren: Scott Cottrell and wife Tara of Moore, OK, Clifton Cottrell and wife Nicole of Philadelphia, PA, and Chuck Cottrell and wife Michelle of Fairfax, VA; great grandchildren: Cole Cottrell, Clara Cottrell, Annabelle Cottrell, and Charlotte Cottrell.
