Betty Lou Greenhaw, age 85, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark Berry officiating. Betty Lou will be laid to rest at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kansas following the service. Viewing for Betty Lou will be on Friday, September 6th with family to greet friends from 6-7 pm.

Betty Lou was born on October 13, 1933 in Winfield, Kansas to Luke and Ivah (Brownlee) Hardiman. She grew up in Arkansas City and graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1951. She also attended Cowley County Junior College, graduating with an Associates Degree in 1953 and worked for Mauerer Neuer in the billing department. Betty Lou married Cleo Greenhaw on August 2, 1953 in Arkansas City, before moving to Salina, Kansas, where her husband was in the US Air Force. While in Salina, she worked for the radio station KSAL as a Continuity Writer. After her husband was discharged from the service, they lived in Arkansas City where she worked in the secretarial pool at Acton Manufacturing Company. Betty Lou and Cleo moved to Wichita, Kansas, Las Cruces, New Mexico and then to Ponca City, where her husband was employed by IBM. She worked for K-Mart Corporation for 20 years. Betty Lou was the bookkeeper for her husband’s company, Professional Computer Systems.

Betty Lou was a member of the Eastern Heights Christian Church and the Ponca City Humane Society. She loved all animals and rescued many dogs and cats and several baby birds. Paul Harvey News carried a story about a baby Oriole that she had raised. Her dog, Mary Lou, was featured in the Marmaduke cartoon series.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Baker and husband, Curtis; brother, Max Hardiman; grandchildren, Nicole Ann Wedman and husband, Richard and Matt Overman; great-grandchild, Brooks Wedman; 2 step-grandchildren, Brandon and Brittney; 3 step great-grandchildren, Ava, Brynn and Caxton; sister-in-law, Judi Allen; nephews, Mike Hardiman and wife Connie and Steve Hardiman and wife Susan; her beloved dog, Peggy Sue and Jonny the cat.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo; parents, Ivah (Brownlee) and Luke Hardiman; niece, Toni Hardiman and great-niece, Desarea Hardiman, Chester the dog and Levi the cat.
