TONKAWA — Tonkawa’s first responders are looking for citizens to support their efforts through blood donation with Oklahoma Blood Institute. Those who give at the Boots & Badges blood drive on Monday, July 29 will provide blood needed to save local lives, such as those that firefighters and law enforcement officers rescue.

That’s how long it took 23-year-old C.J. Bowker to fly from Ponca City to every airport in the State of Oklahoma.
Bowker, a 2014 Po-Hi graduate, decided last December to give it a try after his father, James Bowker, suggested he land in one airport in each of Oklahoma’s 77 counties.
That morphed into landing at every paved, public, non-military airport in the state. All 123 of of them. Oklahoma has a total of 149 airports, but besides the military-only airports, there are also a number of unpaved, grass-strip airports.
BLACKWELL — The Blackwell Police Department has released the following statement regarding recent water and sewer issues in the City of Blackwell:
“During summer months the demand for water rises due to increased consumption. To ensure that city water has the time to properly go through the water plant and have time for additives to clean it up, city management authorized running the plant for twenty-four hours a day rather than sixteen.”
