he Ponca City Board of TCommissioners held a teleconference meeting on Monday evening and discussed a contract for road construction materials and a change order for the street improvement project from Knight Avenue to 14th Street to 1,200 feet west and from Fifth Street to Prospect to 1,570 feet north.

A change order in the amount of $7,642.66 and a final payment of $54,591.52 to Evans and Associates was accepted.

Each year the commissioners appropriate funds for the purchase of road construction materials to be utilized by the City of Ponca City. Staff solicited bids on a six-month basis for use by the City of Ponca City. These contract awards will be from July 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. Funds for the purchase of these materials will come from various operating department budgets.

The Knight Avenue project improvements included full depth removal of the existing asphalt pavement from 14th Street to the west approximately 250 feet. This 250-feet section of street was replaced with full depth concrete pavement. These repairs also extended further to the west 950 feet.

These improvements included cold milling the existing deteriorating asphalt pavement over the entire project area to a depth of three inches, sealing and repairing existing pavement cracks below the milled surface and placement of two lifts of asphalt to replace the three-inches removed. Several damaged panels of concrete sidewalks and wheelchair ramps were also repaired. The project also included replacement of all traffic striping.

The improvements completed for the entire 1,570 feet of the Fifth Street project included cold milling the existing deteriorated asphalt pavement over the entire project area to a depth of three inches. Repairing pavement cracks and traffic striping was also included. All work for this project is now complete and was funded through the City Street Sales Tax Capital Fund. The final payment amount was $54,591.52.
