Northern Oklahoma Humane Society’s 2nd Annual Mutt Gala was a smash hit on Sat., Feb. 11. People in the community who support Northern Oklahoma Humane Society were able to dress in their best costumes and attend this fundraiser. The Mutt Gala is a costume party designed to raise funds for the animals in Northern Oklahoma without a home, and they did just that. While fundraising for Northern Oklahoma Humane Society, attendees were able to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, dancing, and so much more.

“This year’s event is titled ‘Wizard of Pawz’ to highlight the work NOKHS and our partnering organizations are doing to ensure lost pets in Northern Oklahoma find their way home,” said the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society’s Facebook page.

There is truly no place like home, and that is exactly what Northern Oklahoma Humane Society is trying to find for these animals.

NOKHS held a costume contest during the party for “Best Individual Costume,” “Best Couple Costume,” and “Best Group Costume.” Attendees had the ability to show off their costumes to the crowd and convince them that they should win. The winners went home with merchandise donated by local businesses. They also held a raffle for a personalized painting of the winner’s pet painted by Red Dirt Rosie. All of the proceeds from the evening go to saving the lives of homeless pets in Northern Oklahoma.

While this gala was for fundraising benefits, it was also a celebration to recognize the progress Northern Oklahoma Humane Society and their partnering organizations have made this year to establish Kay County a No-Kill community by 2025.

The Northern Oklahoma Humane Society has been serving this community for over 64 years. From their spay and neuter program, to the safekeeping and rehoming of animals that have been forgotten, Northern Oklahoma Humane Society has done nothing but help Ponca City, and with fundraisers like this, citizens of Ponca City were able to help the humane society.
