PONCA CITY, DEC. 2, 2020 – Wild Society, a new true crime comedy podcast that explores murder and the realm of the wild and bizarre, is now among the top 10% of all podcasts worldwide. The podcast is hosted by two former Ponca City residents, Jordan Nichols and Courtney Kline (Stein), along with Chad Previch and Bethany Young of Oklahoma City.

The podcast debuted on Sept. 27 and quickly gained popularity. It now has listeners in 42 countries, 48 states and 690 cities across the world. Dallas is No. 1, followed by Oklahoma City. The United Kingdom is Wild Society’s largest international audience. The four hosts have covered stories from across the world, including several in Oklahoma. On Dec. 2, they covered the Osage Indian Murders.

“Every city has a story to tell,” said Nichols. “Sometimes the stories aren’t cut and dry. That’s where the name ‘Wild Society’ comes into play. Oklahoma, and in particular, northern Oklahoma, is rich in stories, so we knew we wanted to tell a fair share of stories about our native area.”

Wild Society publishes a new episode every Wednesday, which can be downloaded on most podcast apps, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Stitcher. According to new numbers by Buzzsprout, the publisher of Wild Society, the format is working. The number of downloads Wild Society receives each week puts it firmly in the top 10% of all podcasts worldwide.

Although Nichols and Kline live in Oklahoma City, they still have family in Ponca City and visit regularly. Kline said she’s heard from friends and family in Ponca City who download each episode as soon as it comes out.

“Our podcast is different from most true crime podcasts because we bring in the element of the bizarre and wild,” Kline said. “Life is pretty heavy, so we wanted to find the lighter side of the craziness.”
