With the hurdle of the first day of school past, the question of how policies would hold has been on the minds of parents, faculty and community alike. McCord Elementary began school on Sept. 1 and thus far has not been aversely affected by the pandemic.

“Everything is running smooth, staff is concerned about safety (of students),” said Les Potter, Superintendent/Principal at McCord. “We’re steadfast on making sure masks are worn.”

The school has not had to quarantine any students thus far, and only one staff member has been quarantined with no close contacts.

Thursday Sept. 24 was the first non-traditional day for the school where students would be practice distance learning, however the anticipated 85 chrome books for the school have been back ordered and adjustments have been made to allow students to turn in work on Monday Sept. 28.

The school has seen positive support from parents for safety measures and staff are glad to have students back in regular school.
